The unprecedented situation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic has created an opportunity for our mother earth to reinvigorate, to continue giving life to all of us. On this day and situation the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of People’s College, Mokokchung, also took the initiative to do its bit and organized a function with a limited number of NSS volunteers at the college campus following all the SOPs of the covid-19 pandemic.

The members had the privilege of the presence of Dr. Bendang Ao (HOD Zoology, Nagaland University & the Programme Coordinator, NSS, Nagaland University). He exhorted the members to be dedicated and devoted to the cause of making our environment a safe place for our generation as well as the future generations. Keeping in mind of this year’s theme “Time for Nature” Dr. Bendang Ao opined that in spite of living in a fast paced world, every right thinking person should in his or her individual capacity, willingly come forward and give time for our nature just as we devote our time towards our loved ones. He also exhorted the volunteers to be ready to volunteer in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

In celebrating the WED 2020 the Coordinator planted a few decorative trees in the college campus. The volunteers in solidarity with the day also undertook a social work.
