Apart from working for protecting the rights and preserving the dignity of the business community, the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) is dedicated to serving the people. MCCI is ever ready to go the extra mile to ensure that the market is stable under any given circumstances.
In the aftermath of the illegitimate “economic blockade” imposed by some Assam-based organizations at Mariani under Jorhat district of Assam state, whereby movement of all vehicles to Nagaland along NH 702D is being restricted, MCCI is closely monitoring the market in close coordination with the competent authorities in Mokokchung.
Likewise, in order to take stock of the situation in the local market, MCCI along with Mokokchung District Administration and the Mokokchung Municipal Council conducted anempirical assessment of stocks and prices on November 29. Based on the findings of the joint assessment exercise, we would like to inform the general public that there is sufficient stock of all commodities in the market and that prices are stable. We would also like to assure that efforts are being made to replenish the market to meet public demand without any hitch despite the economic blockade. The people are therefore requested not to resort to panic buying as it will create artificial scarcity of goods and commodities in the market. Further, it is requested that public should not fall prey to rumoursor unconfirmed reports.
In Mokokchung, price control and regulation of services and commodities without marked MRP are under the purview of the district administration and MMC. The public are advised not to spread the rumour that MCCI is responsible for price hikes. Instead, it is the policy of MCCI to ensure that all goods and services are sold in Mokokchung below the prescribed rate set by statuary bodies in the best interest of our esteemed customers.
Traders and businesses are warned that strong punitive action will be initiated against those who indulge in unethical and illicit business practices like price hike and hoarding by taking undue advantage of the prevailing situation.
