DC Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir and SP Mokokchung, Vishal, IPS is seen flagging off the Bikers (Royal Enfield Club, Mokokchung) at Town Hall during the celebration of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2021.

In commemoration of the International Day for Women, a program was organized by Mokokchung District Administration and Sakhi One Stop Centre Mokokchung at Ongpangkong Salang today 8th March 2021, under the theme “ Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in COVID-19 world”.

Speaking on the occasion Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Vishal, IPS said women are the source of inspiration and courage. Looking at the role that women play in life, he said not only this particular day but every single should be dedicated to women folk. Vishal maintained that the image of God lies in women but till today they are not given their deserving rights. He asked all the participants to be an ambassador for women empowerment. 

SP Mokokchung said that in Naga society women are given maximum freedom and rights in all aspects, but these days there is an increase of domestic violence therefore, he asked the women folk not to take any kind of oppression but to report to the authority immediately should there be any oppression against them. He assured that he himself and Mokokchung Police are always there to help in every way possible to ensure that women folk are safe in the society.

SDO (C), Mokokchung, Dharam Raj IAS in his short speech maintained that Nagaland is best when it comes to providing rights to women but when it comes to playing key role in the society it is very less. He said, to come out of the discrimination every women must realize their inner capabilities and qualities then only one can achieve key role in the society.

Another program was held earlier at Town Hall, Mokokchung which was organized by the District Administration & District Level Centre for Women-MSK (Beti Bachao Beti Padhao) Mokokchung, where 10 women frontline workers were felicitated.

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir who was the Special Guest thanked all the women frontline workers for working tirelessly in fighting the pandemic. He also mentioned his appreciation to all the departments and NGOs for walking extra mile in the fight against COVID-19.

To mark the occasion, Royal Enfield Club, Mokokchung distributed flowers to women during their ride in and around Miokokchung Town which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police Mokokchung.
