


Advisor for Tourism, Art & Culture, H Khehovi Yeputhomi today inaugurated a Tribal Circuit at Changtongya under Mokokchung district here today in the presence of the Advisor for Industries & Commerce, Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Imnatiba. A host of top officials from the tourism department, Mokokchung district police, administration and Changtongya Village Council also attended the inaugural programme.
The sprawling Tribal Circuit Changtongya was funded under ‘Swadesh Darshan 2016-2017’ by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The complex has three well furnished ‘Log Huts’, a cafeteria, conference hall, modern toilet, waste management facility and even a bird watch tower.
The Advisor for Tourism, H. Khehovi Yeputhomi, was the special guest, said that the tourism industry has great scope in Nagaland state. He said that the inauguration of such a complex like the Tribal Circuit will expand the potentialities of tourism in Nagaland and also create employment opportunities for the Naga youth.
However, he advised the Changtongya citizens to use the infrastructure in a judiciously manner so that they can reap the maximum benefit and profit from the complex as it collectively belonged to the people. He also expressed deep satisfaction at the workmanship congratulated the concern contractors for executing a commendable job. He also expressed gratitude to Advisor Imnatiba for donating the land for constructing the complex.
The ‘host’ of the programme, Advisor Imnatiba, while speaking about the idea behind the complex, said that the plan was conceptualized way back in the year 2008-09 as a tribute to his grandfather Late Takanukshi who ‘was a very philanthropic and generous person’ and who used to cultivate in the same land while he was alive. Therefore, he shared the idea with the former parliamentary secretary of tourism and a proposal was sent for approval which was ultimately selected.
In this regard, while expressing gratitude to the government for making the tourism infrastructure a reality, Imnatiba assured to use the complex in the best possible way and also make the tourism department proud through proper utilization of the complex.
The representative from Changtongya Village Council deeply acknowledged the state government and the tourism department for constructing the complex which was a long felt need of the villagers. He said that Changtongya village citizens had always advocated for bio-diversity conservation since the Amur falcon roots in its village jurisdiction. He said that the construction of the Tribal Circuit would greatly expand the tourism sector in the village and also assured to use the infrastructure in the best possible manner.
Meanwhile, the programme was chaired by additional director of tourism department, Kedousie-ü Metha while the pastor of Changtongya Town Baptist Church, Rev Temshi dedicated the complex.
