On November 22, 2021 Rev. Dr. M. Mani Chacko, the General Secretary of the Bible Society of India inducted Rev. Dr. W. Along Jamir to his Office as the Director in the Department of Translation at the Bible Society of India.
It was a solemn and joyful moment to have this event in the presence of the Senior Management team and the Translation Department Staff of the BSI. The General Secretary of the BSI, read out Palm 91 and had a very meaningful pastoral prayer to bless Rev. Dr. W. Along Jamir for God’s guidance with good health and wisdom to take the translation ministry to a greater height through this new and crucial responsibility.
Rev. Dr. W. Along Jamir is a person with result driven professional with repeated success in guiding Bible Translation projects from start to finish, managing human operations and human resources, a quick leaner of the newer technologies which he inculcated to promote work operation efficiently. He was the Associate Director at the Translation Centre, Shillong for 9 years. He is married to Mrs Lipoksenla Ozukum, who is a Trained Nurse by profession, and they are blessed with two teenage sons, a 17 years boy Mr Putiyinsem Jamir, and a 14 years boy Mr Wadangtir Jamir.
Dr Along Jamir hails from Ao village of Mopungchuket in Mokokchung district, Nagaland. He actually belongs to Dimapur Ao Baptist Church, Dimapur in Nagaland where his parents live. Dr Jamir and his family are now settled in Bangalore since these past few months.
On his induction and promotion to a higher responsibility as the Director in the Dept. of Translations at BSI, Bangalore – perhaps a first in that capacity from Nagaland and Northeast India – we are all excited and congratulate him for bringing laurels to the Ao community both in secular and theological fraternity in particular and to the people of Nagaland and Northeasters in general.
