PRESS RELEASE

The Watsü Mungdang strongly condemns the brutal massacre, by the Indian Armed forces killing 15 villagers at Oting village, Mon district of Nagaland on 4th December 2021. We are shocked beyond words for this inhumane, cold – hearted, senseless and unmindful act. This is nothing new but a repetition where the Indian armed forces had in the past tortured, killed thousands, burnt villages, and raped women folk for days on end in the name of fighting insurgency.

The Nagas have been protesting against the AFSPA act since many years and the recent massacre has once again triggered our wounded hearts. Such heinous act and high handedness applied in disguise of AFSPA is totally unacceptable, and should be totally condemn by one and all.

This unwarranted incident has once again created a huge vacuum of trust deficit among the civilians and the armed forces and the later should be held accountable for outrightly violating human rights and freedom. We urged the authorities to book those responsible and justice delivered at all cost at the earliest.

“We share the pain and sorrow with the bereaved family members of all those who lost their lives and offer unflinching support and solidarity to our Konyak brethrens and to all Nagas at this disturbing hour of pain and anguish”
