The Soyim Students’ Union (SST) is deeply saddened by the tragic demise of Ms. Mapuienla Longkumer, hailing from Ungma village, Mokokchung and a second semester student of St. Joseph University, Chumoukedima on May 26, 2022.

Humanity’s hidden brutality has led to the loss of a young soul who had thousands of dreams ahead of her. Ms. Mapuienla Longkumer was an active member of the Soyim Students’ Union and was also a dedicated member of the Church.

The inhumane and barbaric act of the unknown driver, who hit the victim and fled the scene with least regard for her life is beyond acceptable. The reckless behaviour of the driver has led the victim to suffer the cruelest of death.

SST strongly condemns this barbaric act of the driver and would like to urge the law enforcing authority to expedite the investigation with regard to the incident and apprehend the culprit at the earliest.

The SST also expresses our heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and we hope that God will comfort everyone in this hardest of times.
