A ceremonial Plantation in 75 Nagar van and 75 other plantation sites has been initiated as a part of Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav during Hariyali Saptah celebration by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, New Delhi on 8th July 2022.

The Mokokchung Forest Division; Marep Forest Park was also a part of the celebration of the selected sites representing the state of Nagaland. The dignitaries witnessing the ceremonial plantations were Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Aotula IPS, Superintendent of Police and the Officers and staffs of the Mokokchung Forest Division along with the Nagaland Development Outreach NGO who is also a part of Nagaland Forest Management Project.

       Dr. Sentitula. IFS, DFO Mokokchung stated that the Van Mahotsav which is a Forest festival and is the annual planting season in the entire country and the initiative of ceremonial plantation in 75 Nagar van and 75 other plantation sites in the entire country is the journey towards ‘AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV’ coinciding with ‘HARIYALI SAPTAH; She further stated that with the active participation  from all section of society  in the district  mass plantation has been carried out and is still carrying on with replacement plantation.

       The district having witness and understood the reality of global change and its implication towards the humankind and all the living beings and with a focus on ‘Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature’ tree planting initiatives are carried out by the communities and join hands with the global community in restoring and safeguarding our, MOTHER EARTH.
