The Mokokchung Town Lotha Hoho (MTLH) celebrated its 56th Tokhü Emong celebration on November 7, 2022, at the Town Hall, Mokokchung.
The Tokhü Emong celebration was graced by Y. E. Ngullie IPS, DIGP (Range), and Mokokchung. In his speech, Ngullie dwelt on the meaning of “Tokhü Emong,” a harvest festival celebrated by the Lotha Nagas. The nine-day fall festival celebrates the end of the harvest season. Tokhü means feast (eating food and drinking). Emong means to halt at the appointed time. In his speech, he focused attention on love and respect among the Lotha Community and also the people they socialise with. He emphasised living in unity and encouraged the Lotha Community to practise forgiveness and kindness.
Dr. Phyobenthung Odyuo, an associate professor at Fazl Ali College, exhorted the audience to value tradition and give mother language prominence.
