World Malaria Day was observed today, April 25, 2023, at the CMO Conference Hall, Mokokchung, under the theme “Time to Deliver Zero Malaria: Invest, Innovate, Impliment”.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Task Force for Malaria Elimination, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS, lauded the Medical Department and the Vector Borne Committee in the district for their effort and accomplishment in containing malaria in the district. Having said that, the DC maintained that there is no scope for complacency when it comes to diseases; therefore, we need to be alert and carry on with the awareness programmes.

DC said that children are more vulnerable to malaria and other diseases. Mentioning the importance of educating and making the parents aware, he asked the concerned department to carry out the task of visiting the households in the villages so as to promote awareness. He further said that community support is the key factor in containing the disease and that all the PHCs should also be able to treat it.

In the programme, three of the best-performing ASHAS were felicitated: Chubatola (Chakba), Sunepmongla (Longmisa), and Toshinaro (Lakhuni). A key note address and power point presentation were given by Dist. Vector Borne Disease Consultant, Imkummongba Nungtanger, while the programme was chaired by Assistant Malaria Officer, Khenito.
